Football and Life: More Similar Than You Think

Football and Life: More Similar Than You Think Football may be regarded as just a game played over 90 minutes. However, in truth, it reflects life more than we think. On the field, just like in life, you do not always have control over what is happening. You may play well but still lose the game. You may also make mistakes but still manage to win. Football teaches you to stay focused and keep pushing forward. Every move you make and every decision you take are important. This is similar to the small choices we make in life that affect our future. Football also helps you develop strength and belief in life. Sometimes you may feel like giving up. You may also feel like you have tried everything but still fail. However, you do not give up. This teaches you the importance of teamwork and discipline. This goes beyond the field and into life. At the end of it all, football is not just about scoring goals and winning games. It’s about becoming a better person. You learn from each experie...

What one year in NCC taught me

My first year at NCC has also taught me that discipline is not something that one turns on during a parade but becomes a part of who one is. It was not easy waking up early every morning and being subjected to physical training and drills. It was not easy being pushed out of one’s comfort zone and being made to realize how much more one was capable of. It was not easy being made to understand that it was not just about being able to march in sync or being able to carry out orders but also about mental strength and being able to give one’s best even when one was tired. NCC slowly transformed my attitude from “I’ll try” to “I’ll do.” Apart from the physical aspect of training, NCC has also taught me a lot about leadership, team work, and responsibility. Being part of a team means that one has a responsibility to others. It was not easy learning how to trust people and work towards a common goal. It was not easy learning how to take responsibility for one’s own actions. It was not ea...

What one year in law school taught me

What One Year in Law School Taught Me My first year in law school was not so much about studying sections, but more about learning how to think. I went into the first year expecting clear-cut answers, and I came out with the knowledge that the law is not black and white, but gray. Cases were not just stories, they were arguments, perspectives, and conflicts waiting to happen. I learned how to ask questions, like why a case was decided the way it was, what arguments were not made, and how facts come into play. But most of all, it taught me how to think, how to approach a problem, how to sit with complexity, and how to create clarity out of chaos. It was not just the academics, however, that this first year taught me. It taught me discipline, patience, and perseverance. The constant pressure, the deadlines, and the readings taught me how to handle my time and how to be consistent even when the motivation was not there. It took me a while, but I finally realized that growth, especial...

My first day at college

My First Day of College It was a quiet first day of college. I reached my hostel room to find that my roommate had yet to arrive. Hence, I was alone through the entire day. Everything was new—room, campus, people. Though there were people around me, I did not really interact with them. I was by myself through the entire day. I just observed everything around me.  However, my orientation was a turning point in my day. The orientation was well-planned and made me feel comfortable. I felt like I was home. The seniors around me were friendly. Hence, by the end of the first day of college, though I was still alone, I felt like I was home.
